We’re excited to report new information about Horizon Steel Frontiers, a joint effort between South Korea’s NCSoft, known for franchises such as Lineage and Guild Wars, and Sony’s Guerrilla Games. The project brings the Horizon franchise into a shared-world multiplayer format for the first time.
You’ll be heading into the “Deathlands,” a tough new zone based on the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico. The world still has the robotic creatures fans know well, but this time you’re not playing as Aloy. You get to make your own machine hunter instead, choosing their look, tribe, hairstyle, face paint, and more.
You won’t be exploring alone; this world is packed with other players. Sometimes you’ll team up to take down massive machines, and other times you’ll be fighting rival groups for control of valuable resources. The combat should feel familiar, too, with teamwork, smart use of the environment, and scavenging machine parts all playing a big role.

Jan-Bart van Beek, Studio Director at Guerrilla Games, says Horizon Steel Frontiers is being built with mobile players in mind, with releases planned for both Android and iOS. The game will also launch on PC through NCSoft’s Purple platform. Because of this mobile-first direction, a PlayStation 5 version isn’t in the works at the moment, a decision that has left some longtime fans voicing their frustrations online. Here are some expressions of fans’ disappointment because there is no version for PS5 yet.

There isn’t a confirmed release date yet, but NCSoft leaders said in a recent earnings call that they expect the game to land sometime between 2026 and early 2027. Executive Producer Sung-Gu Lee added that the team is pushing to get it into players’ hands “as soon as possible.”
