Apple will begin enforcing new age-verification requirements for App Store users in Texas on June 4, 2026, in compliance with the state’s Senate Bill 2420.
Under SB 2420, all apps distributed in Texas must comply with the law’s requirements. New Apple Accounts created in the state will undergo age verification, while minors will need parental approval before downloading apps, installing major updates, or making in-app purchases. Developers must also provide a way for parents or guardians to withdraw that consent at any time.
The Texas law was signed in May last year and was expected to take effect on January 1, though legal disputes delayed its rollout. Apple had already developed mechanisms for complying with region-specific regulations and introduced age-verification requirements for iCloud accounts in the UK in March. The Texas implementation extends those measures to App Store-related activity.
