YouTube Music is rolling out visible labels that flag AI-generated tracks. The change gives users a direct way to filter out synthetic audio, which often has an artificial, slightly processed sound.
A small oval badge reading “AI” now appears just under the track title. YouTube Music will apply it to songs generated entirely by AI, as well as to tracks where a model produced a major element, such as the vocals. According to YouTube, the label covers any music in which AI had a significant role.
Tapping the label opens a menu explaining how AI was used in the track, which lets listeners decide whether to keep playing it. The approach closely resembles the way YouTube already tags AI-generated videos on its main platform.
The standard YouTube app also hosts plenty of music videos and related content. YouTube says these labels will come to the video player later.
YouTube Music joins a growing list of services responding to the surge of AI-generated tracks. Spotify has started flagging fake artists, while Deezer is deploying a filter designed to detect and exclude AI content.
