Amazon and Anthropic are expanding their partnership through new funding, greater infrastructure access, and deeper platform integration. Amazon announced a $5 billion investment in Anthropic, with an additional $20 billion in potential payments tied to milestone targets. The agreement significantly strengthens an already close relationship between the two companies.
The latest investment comes after Amazon’s first $4 billion backing of Anthropic in 2023, followed by a second $4 billion round in 2024.
Under the expanded agreement, Anthropic will continue using Amazon’s custom Trainium chips to train its AI models. The company also committed to spending more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services technologies over the next decade.
As part of the agreement, Anthropic will gain access to as much as 5 gigawatts of existing and future chip capacity to train its models and support operations.
The partnership will also place Anthropic’s Claude platform directly inside the AWS portal, allowing customers to use the service without separate login credentials.
