Google shared three new updates that make Gemini a bigger part of Samsung’s newest devices during Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2026. Launching with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8, the new Gemini Intelligence is built to help with everyday tasks, keep projects organized, and even let users interact without speaking on wearables and smart glasses.
1. Get next-generation task automation with Gemini Intelligence
Gemini Intelligence is scaling up its automation platform with support for more than 40 third-party apps. What began as a beta focused on basic actions like ride-hailing and food delivery now extends to shopping, restaurant bookings, travel planning, and ticket purchases. Galaxy Z Flip 8 users can activate these AI-powered workflows directly from the Flex Window by pressing and holding the power button.
Gemini’s advanced reasoning model can interpret both on-screen content and image-based prompts, enabling workflows that begin with items like shopping lists or reference photos. Tasks are completed asynchronously, so users can multitask, switch applications, or lock the device while Gemini continues processing in the background. Manual edits remain available throughout the process, and the assistant issues a notification when the completed task is ready for review and approval.
2. Raise the bar on projects with Gemini Notebook
Google is preinstalling Gemini Notebook, previously known as NotebookLM, on Samsung’s three new foldable devices. Designed as an AI assistant for research and learning, the app uses multimodal AI to work with different types of content. On the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, users can organize photos, documents, whiteboard images, voice recordings, and other files in a side-by-side workspace. Gemini can answer questions about those materials and create learning resources such as presentations, videos, flashcards, quizzes, or podcasts.
Samsung will bundle a six-month Google AI Pro trial with every Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8. The offer gives users access to premium features, including Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, and Slides.
3. Take Gemini on the go with watches and glasses
Google is also bringing Gemini to the Galaxy Watch 9. Users can activate the assistant by simply raising their wrist, eliminating the need for a wake word and making it easier to ask questions while on the move.
As part of its wearable AI plans, Google provided new details about the smart glasses it is developing with Samsung. The product, first introduced at Google I/O 2026, is expected to launch this fall. In addition to the previously announced Gentle Monster and Warby Parker designs, Google unveiled two new frame options. The company also demonstrated Gemini features, including gesture controls that work with a compatible Wear OS smartwatch.
