WhatsApp’s latest update brings many of its core features to the Apple Watch, answering long-standing requests from users. For the first time, it will let you:

  • Manage Calls with Ease: See who is calling you with clear caller identification, providing you with the context to decide whether to answer immediately or call back later.
  • Read Messages in Full: Enjoy the convenience of reading entire conversations directly on your watch face. The app seamlessly handles long messages, ensuring you can follow every part of the discussion.
  • Communicate with Your Voice: Record and send voice messages instantly, making it simpler than ever to send a quick update when typing isn’t convenient.
  • React Quickly: Stay engaged in your chats by sending quick emoji reactions to messages you receive, keeping the conversation flowing with a simple tap.
  • View Rich Media: Experience a clear media display. Images and stickers render sharply on the Apple Watch screen, ensuring you never miss a visual cue.
  • Access Your Chat History: Scroll through more of your message history on screen, providing better context for your ongoing conversations.

WhatsApp says this rollout is only the beginning of its plans to refine the Apple Watch experience. Consistent with its platform-wide standards, all communications remain safeguarded by end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp says it’s excited to launch this capability for its community and is already working on additional features to enhance the experience. The app is supported on Apple Watch Series 4 and above, provided the device is running watchOS 10 or newer.
