Apple's First Touchscreen MacBook Reportedly Set to Debut Around October 27

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple’s first touchscreen laptop is expected to launch on or around Oct. 27. The date isn’t certain, though it gives a more specific timeframe than earlier reports for a product that has been anticipated for a long time.

Rumors of a touchscreen high-end MacBook began in 2023. Newer reports, mainly from Gurman, say it will have an interface that changes depending on the input method. It may be called the MacBook Ultra and is expected to use the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips already in current MacBook Pro models. Another report suggested there will be no pro-level versions of the M6 chip.

Anonymous sources told Bloomberg that Apple’s presentation should also include a redesigned iPad Mini with an OLED display. Smaller updates are expected for the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac, adding the M6 chip that launched with the Mac mini refresh. The MacBook Pro currently uses an M5 chip, and the iMac uses an M4.

Apple is also expected to announce a new set of smart home products on Oct. 13. This follows the summer release of the iPhone Duo, the company’s first foldable phone.
