Google Brings Gemini Live to Gmail, Docs, and Keep for Workspace Users

Google is bringing Gemini Live to Gmail, Docs, and Keep, the company said, marking one of its biggest pushes yet to fold conversational AI into everyday work tools. The rollout is limited to paying Workspace customers for now.

Google frames the update as a way to make everyday tasks easier, letting users talk to their apps and data instead of typing or clicking through menus. Reception so far has been mixed, with several users questioning whether talking to an email client actually makes sense in practice.

The newly launched features, branded as Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live, are built upon Gemini Live’s conversational AI models.

With Gmail Live, Google wants users to be able to dig up information faster, simply by asking for it out loud. That might mean recalling what was discussed in a meeting or checking on a kid’s school schedule, with the system pulling the relevant details from the inbox.

Docs Live, on the other hand, is built for writing, not searching. Google describes it as a “co-writer” that helps turn scattered thoughts into an actual first draft, and says it can also pull in relevant details from Gmail, Drive, and Chat, as long as the user has given permission.

Keep Live is being introduced as a tool for organization. Google is inviting users to “dump” their unstructured thoughts into the note-taking app, after which the AI engine can be prompted to turn that stream of consciousness into organized, actionable lists or concepts.

Google stated that the new conversational features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep are currently rolling out to eligible subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans. The company added that the functionality should arrive soon for business customers using the Workspace productivity suite.
