Unlocking Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Mode
Google is beginning to integrate Gemini 2.5 Pro directly into Search through AI Mode. This gives users access to one of Google’s most advanced AI models, right within their search experience. Gemini 2.5 Pro shines in areas like advanced reasoning, math, and coding, offering detailed responses along with helpful links for deeper learning.
Subscribers can easily select the Gemini 2.5 Pro model from a drop-down menu within the AI Mode tab. The default AI Mode will still be available for quick, well-rounded assistance on everyday queries, but now you’ll have the option to tap into something more powerful when needed.
Dive Deeper with Deep Search
For those moments when you need more than a quick answer, Google is introducing Deep Search, an advanced research tool powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro. This feature takes your query and performs hundreds of searches behind the scenes, connecting the dots across scattered information sources to deliver a well-reasoned, fully-cited report in just minutes.
Whether you’re tackling work projects, researching a hobby, studying for school, or making big life decisions like buying a home or comparing financial options, Deep Search can be a serious time-saver. It’s now starting to roll out to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. who are part of the AI Mode experiment in Google Labs, where the latest innovations are tested first.
AI Makes the Call for You
In a move that brings even more convenience to everyday tasks, Google is launching a new agentic feature in Search: AI-powered calling to local businesses. Let’s say you’re looking for a dog groomer or a dry cleaner. Instead of calling around yourself, Search can now handle that for you.
Just search something like “pet groomers near me” and look for the new option to “Have AI check pricing.” You’ll be able to submit your request, and Google will reach out to businesses to gather pricing and appointment info. Then it will organize everything and present a clear list of options, saving you time while helping businesses book more customers.
This feature is starting to roll out to all U.S. Search users, with higher usage limits for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. And importantly, businesses retain full control through their Business Profile settings.
