Google has officially introduced its new Pixel 11 lineup, and this time around, the company is focusing more on improving the Pixel experience than making huge changes. There are four models to choose from: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. That gives buyers plenty of options, from the standard Pixel to a large foldable phone.
All four models run on Google’s new Tensor G6 chip. Google says the chip is up to 20 percent more power efficient and offers 50 percent more TPU computing power for AI features. Here’s a closer look at what the new Pixel 11 series brings.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold: Lighter, thinner and tougher
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold keeps much of the same look as its predecessor, but Google has made several changes to the design and hardware. The phone is 10 percent lighter than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and about 1mm thinner, making it easier to carry. Google has also changed the rear camera housing, giving it a more squared-off appearance.
The new Tensor G6 chip is expected to improve battery performance, with Google saying the phone can last more than 24 hours under normal use. For charging, wired fast charging can reach 50 percent in around 30 minutes. Wireless charging is also up to 20 percent faster when using a Pixelsnap magnetic charger.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold may be thinner and lighter, but Google says it hasn’t sacrificed durability. The company claims its materials are three times stronger, while a redesigned hinge adds further protection. The phone also comes with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The displays get an upgrade too. Both screens are now 20 percent brighter, which should make them easier to see outdoors. On the camera side, the 48-megapixel main lens captures 56 percent more light, according to Google, helping with photos and videos in darker conditions. The telephoto camera can also zoom up to 30x with Super Zoom.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold includes HiLight, a feature also found on Google’s Pro models. It consists of a group of LED lights positioned around the camera flash and can provide visual alerts when the phone is placed face down. Users can assign different colors to individual contacts, allowing the light to indicate who is calling.
The lights can also pulse when Gemini is listening, processing a request, or responding.
Google is offering the Pixel 11 Pro Fold in Olive and Obsidian, with pre-orders starting today. The phone starts at $1,899 for 256GB of storage and 16GB of RAM.
Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL: More power and bigger batteries
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are Google’s flagship non-foldable models, with several improvements over the Pixel 10 Pro lineup.
Both devices are powered by the Tensor G6 processor, offering increased TPU performance for AI workloads and up to 20 percent better power efficiency. They are available with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Battery life has also been improved, with Google claiming up to 30 hours of use on a single charge. Wired fast charging can reach 75 percent in about 30 minutes, while Pixelsnap accessories support wireless charging speeds up to 29 percent faster than before.
Google describes the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL as its most durable Pixel phones so far. The Pixel 11 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro XL uses a 6.8-inch panel. Both screens are twice as resistant to scratches compared with the previous generation and reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness. Both devices are also rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
The rear camera bar has been redesigned with edge-to-edge glass and a metal border. The main camera now uses a 50-megapixel sensor that Google says improves image detail from 1x to 3x zoom while providing “2x optical quality.” The new telephoto sensor also lets in more light, and both phones support up to 120x zoom.
The camera system also gets several new features, including Instant Night Sight for taking low-light photos without a long processing delay. Pro Stable Video is designed to improve video stability, and both models support 8K video recording for more detailed footage.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are available for pre-order in Canyon, Olive, Fog, and Obsidian. Pricing starts at $1,099 for the Pro and $1,299 for the Pro XL.
Pixel 11: The entry point
At $899, the Pixel 11 is the most affordable phone in Google’s new lineup. The base model comes with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, while using the same Tensor G6 chip found in the higher-end Pixel 11 models.
Google says the Pixel 11 can also deliver more than 30 hours of battery life on a single charge. Wired fast charging reaches 55 percent in about 30 minutes, while Pixelsnap accessories can provide up to 25 percent faster wireless charging.
Google has also redesigned the camera bar on the standard Pixel 11, making it about 30 percent slimmer than before. The phone features a new 48-megapixel main camera sensor that captures more detail and offers 56 percent higher light sensitivity. Zoom reaches up to 30x.
Durability remains a key part of the Pixel 11’s design. Like the higher-end models, it has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and can reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness, which should make the screen easier to see outdoors.
The Pixel 11 is available for pre-order in Frost, Hibiscus, Pistachio, and Obsidian. Unless Google introduces a Pixel 11a later, it remains the most affordable model in the Pixel 11 series.
New Pixel software features
Google is also putting considerable attention on software across the Pixel 11 lineup, with several of the new features having already been previewed during the company’s Android Show I/O Edition earlier this year.
One of the highlights is Gemini Intelligence, which can handle certain tasks on a user’s behalf. It can, for example, order groceries or book a ride through supported apps. The feature can also clean up voice-to-text input by removing filler words.
Live Translate can now translate videos, podcasts, and voice messages as they play. The Pixel Camera app also includes a new feature that can recognize sign language and convert it into text, providing another way to communicate with deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
Google is also introducing Magic Capture, a camera mode that automatically records photos and videos of a scene. The feature can crop images and reduce blur automatically, so users can get usable results without having to edit them afterward. It could be useful when photographing children, sports, or other situations where the action happens quickly.
