Motorola has released the Signature 27, its latest flagship phone. It’s a regular slab phone, not a foldable, but at $1,599.99, people will probably start comparing it to foldables anyway.
The Signature 27 comes with a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo display and a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola says it is the brightest smartphone display available, with peak brightness of 12,000 nits. That peak only applies in certain situations, and sustained brightness for typical content is considerably lower.
The phone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Motorola considers 12GB sufficient given current shortages, although some devices offered 16GB shortly before the memory crunch began.
Motorola calls the camera setup on the Signature 27 the most advanced it has built. The rear array includes a 50MP Sony Lytia L910 main sensor at f/1.6, a 50MP ultrawide at f/2, and a 200MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. A dedicated event-based vision sensor is meant to help with fast-moving subjects. Up front, a 50MP f/1.9 camera handles selfies and video calls.
In DXOMARK’s overall camera rankings, the Motorola Signature 27 currently sits in second place, trailing only the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.

Additional features include Bang & Olufsen audio, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, and a 7,000mAh battery with 90W wired charging. The phone has six antennas designed to improve 5G download speeds. Motorola says a 12-minute charge provides enough power for a full day. It also commits to seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates, starting from the global launch date.
Pre-orders for the Motorola Signature 27 open November 19, with the phone going on sale a week later, on November 26. It comes in coal smoke or capulet olive and starts at $1,599.99.
