Google has just unveiled what they’re calling their most durable foldable smartphone to date: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Pixel 10 Pro Fold reimagining of what a foldable device can withstand, powered by Google’s latest engineering breakthroughs and their custom Tensor G5 processor. Pixel 10 Pro Fold has many performance improvements over the previous Google Pixel version. Google completely reengineered its Super Actua Flex Display technology. The screen now incorporates ultra-thin glass as its foundation. They’ve also added two distinct layers of anti-impact film specifically designed for drop protection, creating a multi-layered defense system against the everyday accidents that can damage smartphones.

Google claims these combined improvements allow the device to withstand over 10 years of folding cycles. To put this in perspective, if you fold and unfold your phone 50 times per day (which would be quite heavy usage), the device should theoretically maintain its integrity for well over a decade.

The display improvements extend beyond durability to usability as well. The inner display measures a generous 8 inches, currently the largest available on any foldable device, while the outer display has grown to 6.4 inches. Both screens can reach 3000 nits of brightness, ensuring visibility remains crystal clear whether you’re indoors under artificial lighting or outdoors in direct sunlight.

Battery technology in foldables has traditionally been challenging due to space constraints, but Google has managed to pack what they claim is the biggest battery ever seen in a foldable device. The battery can last over 30 hours of battery life under typical usage patterns, addressing one of the most common concerns about foldable devices: whether they can last through a full day of heavy use.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold supports fast wired charging that can restore 50% battery capacity in just 30 minutes – crucial for users who need quick top-ups throughout the day. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold becomes the first foldable to feature built-in Qi2 charging technology.

Google has also introduced “Pixelsnap,” a magnetic technology integrated directly into the phone’s design. This allows accessories like the Pixelsnap Charger with Stand to attach magnetically even when the phone is unfolded, and the Pixelsnap Ring Stand enables hands-free streaming in various positions.

Photography on foldable devices presents unique opportunities and challenges, and Google has embraced both with its new camera system. The centerpiece is a 48MP main camera that anchors an advanced triple rear camera setup, each lens serving specific photographic needs.

The system enables Macro Focus for extreme close-up photography, Super Res Zoom that can magnify subjects up to 20x while maintaining image quality, and a particularly clever feature called Rear Camera Selfie that lets you use the superior rear cameras for self-portraits by using the outer display as a viewfinder.

Google has introduced “Instant View,” a feature that exemplifies how foldable design can solve real photography problems. When your phone is unfolded, you can immediately preview your photos on the large inner screen, giving you immediate feedback and the opportunity to retake a shot before the moment passes. This joins existing foldable-specific camera features like Made You Look (which shows animations on the outer screen to capture children’s attention), Dual Screen Preview, and Tabletop Mode for stable photography setups.

AI-Powered Intelligence with Tensor G5

The brain of this operation is Google’s custom Tensor G5 processor, the latest of their in-house chip design. The AI features span from communication tools like Gemini Live for natural conversation with Google’s AI assistant, to productivity helpers like Magic Cue and Daily Hub that anticipate your needs throughout the day.
