iPhone 17e Launches With Double Storage and Enhanced Durability

Apple has officially expanded its smartphone lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 17e, a new addition to its budget-friendly segment. The announcement confirms several rumors regarding the device’s pricing and core specifications.

Just like the rumors suggested, the iPhone 17e begins at $599, exactly what the iPhone 16e cost at launch. This time, though, the base version comes with 256GB of storage, and there’s also a fresh pink color in the mix.

The phone is powered by the A19 chip found in the standard iPhone 17, giving it full access to Apple Intelligence features.

One big thing the iPhone 17e fixes is the charging. It finally adds MagSafe with Qi2 support, pushing wireless speeds up to 15W instead of the 7.5W limit on the iPhone 16e.

Connectivity has also been enhanced with the introduction of Apple’s C1X cellular modem. According to Apple, the new modem is “up to 2x faster than C1 in iPhone 16e.”

The device keeps its 6.1-inch Super Retina display and the familiar notch design from the previous model. What’s new is Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says delivers three times better scratch resistance along with reduced glare.

Apple appears to have carried over the 48MP Fusion camera architecture from the iPhone 16e. Specific sensor or lens modifications were not disclosed, but the company underscores the module’s adaptability, citing optical-grade 2x telephoto capabilities that simulate a dual-camera configuration.

The iPhone 17e maintains an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and continues to offer satellite-based services, including Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My.

Apple claims the phone provides all-day battery life. The company says gains this generation come from the C1X modem’s efficiency and improved power management in iOS 26.

On the outside, the iPhone 17e looks almost identical to the previous model, with the same shape and buttons in the same spots.

The news follows Apple’s September launch of the core iPhone 17 lineup, as the company tends to release its budget models separately. Meanwhile, speculation continues around a possible foldable iPhone that could arrive before the end of the year.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 17e open on March 4, with retail availability and customer deliveries beginning March 11.
