GTA 6 Online Plans Still a Mystery as Rockstar Remains Silent

GTA 6 Online Plans

Fans waiting to see what the next Grand Theft Auto Online will offer may have to be patient. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said after speaking with Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick that the company has not yet started discussing its plans for the next online experience. Those details are not expected to arrive anytime soon.

The news, first picked up by Dexerto, has got the GTA community talking. According to Schreier, Take-Two is putting all of its attention on the single-player part of Grand Theft Auto VI for now.

Grand Theft Auto VI Pre-Orders ‘Vastly’ Beat Expectations

Schreier said Take-Two is currently discussing GTA 6 only in terms of its single-player experience, which is not expected to generate recurring revenue. He also said he doesn’t expect microtransactions to be added to the single-player game. As for the next version of GTA Online, Take-Two has not shared any details and doesn’t appear ready to discuss its plans anytime soon.

The news has disappointed players who expected the online mode to launch with the game or arrive not long afterward. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, following two previous delays.

The lack of information doesn’t necessarily mean players will face a long wait after launch. Rockstar Games has a history of releasing its online modes separately from the main games. Grand Theft Auto Online launched a few weeks after Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, while Red Dead Online arrived about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.

Even so, it’s a little surprising that Take-Two still isn’t ready to say much about GTA 6 Online. With the game getting closer to release, fans will likely keep wondering about things like microtransactions, connectivity, and what happens to their existing GTA Online characters and purchases. For now, all Rockstar and Take-Two are giving fans is silence.
