Final Cut Camera, the professional filming app for iPhone, has been updated to version 2.4, bringing a new design, support for variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro, and more professional options with iOS 27. The free software update is available beginning September 29.
The redesigned Final Cut Camera makes common settings such as shutter angle, ISO, and white balance easier to reach. It adds customizable overlays, including false color and clipping indicators for checking exposure, and focus peaking now has a sensitivity control. A tally light shows when recording is in progress, and a two-finger tap clears the viewfinder of on-screen elements.
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro’s new Fusion Main camera is the most advanced it has built, and it brings variable aperture to the iPhone for the first time. In Final Cut Camera, filmmakers can set the aperture manually or switch between shutter priority and aperture priority modes while recording. The update also extends Cinematic mode effects to standard video, including ProRes and Apple Log footage, so focus points and depth of field can be changed later in Final Cut Pro.

Final Cut Camera is gaining professional video scopes, clean SDI output, and genlock offset with iOS 27. The RGB Parade shows the red, green, and blue channels separately so filmmakers can check color balance and exposure, and a histogram is included as well. Clean SDI out sends an unobstructed video signal through an HDMI-to-SDI converter for broadcast-quality streaming. Genlock offset lets crews correct for artifacts when filming a display or for timing differences between an iPhone and other genlocked cameras.
Version 2.4 is available now as a free software update.
