Apple began rolling out its latest operating system updates-iOS 27, watchOS 27, iPadOS 27, and visionOS 27-across its ecosystem of devices. The centerpiece of all four updates is “Siri AI,” the delayed AI-powered overhaul of the company’s voice assistant.
Siri AI launches as a beta available for English-only devices. Apple has stated that support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is scheduled to arrive in October.
iOS 27 Features
Beyond the Siri overhaul, iOS 27 introduces several interface and customization changes. Apple is adding a new Liquid Glass opacity slider, allowing users to choose between a clearer UI or a more frosty appearance. Additionally, numerous built-in apps are receiving new icon designs with subtle color tweaks. The update also brings extra-large widgets and separate volume settings for ringtones, alarms, timers, alerts, and system sounds.
The iOS 27 update is compatible with iPhone 11, iPhone SE (2nd generation), and later devices.
watchOS 27 Features
For Apple Watch users, watchOS 27 includes new Workout Buddy features, a new tap gesture, Liquid Glass refinements, new Smart Stack suggestions, and an improved Find My app.
watchOS 27 is available for Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 9 and above, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and above.
iPadOS 27 Features
The iPadOS 27 update focuses on performance and connectivity. Apple has improved file transfer speeds to external drives, sped up browsing, and added smoother connectivity when moving between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
iPadOS 27 is available for iPad Pro (4th generation and later, M1 and later), iPad Air (4th generation and later, M2 and later), iPad mini (6th generation, A17 Pro), and the base iPad (9th generation and later, A16).
visionOS 27 Features
Apple Vision Pro users receive the Siri AI overhaul as part of visionOS 27. The update also introduces the ability to preview notifications using eye tracking, UI updates to the Control Center, improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity, and support for using photographed panoramas as immersive scenes and environments.
