GTA 6 Has Already Made $630 Million Before Its November Launch

Sensor Tower estimates Rockstar’s sequel has generated roughly $630 million in pre-order revenue, with most buyers choosing PlayStation 5.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on November 19, one month from now. It is widely expected to be the top-selling game of 2026 and may become one of the most successful entertainment launches ever.

According to Sensor Tower, Rockstar has already pre-sold around 6.45 million copies as of October 20. That’s roughly $630 million in pre-orders. Most people are going with PlayStation 5, about 74% of buyers, which works out to around 4.8 million copies. Xbox is at about 1.66 million.

GTA VI is the long-awaited follow-up to Grand Theft Auto V, which came out in 2013. The game takes place in Leonida, a fictional state modeled on Florida, and looks to offer a more immersive, interactive world than earlier entries. Rockstar has spent more than a decade developing it.

The standard edition is priced at $79.99 and the ultimate edition at $99.99. Rockstar also offers a collector’s set for $399.99 that contains several game-themed items. The set does not include a copy of the game.

The launch is already reshaping the release calendar. Competing studios have moved their own games out of GTA VI’s window, and several gamers said in August they’d take launch week off to play. One report even claims soldiers at a military base were offered time off to play in return for reenlisting.
