Instagram now lets users write a unique caption for each slide in a carousel post. In the past, all photos and videos in a carousel shared one caption, which could make it difficult to explain or connect each image clearly.
A new toggle is available in the caption area while creating a carousel. Users can either add separate captions to each slide or stick with the existing format that uses one caption for the entire post.
The feature began rolling out on June 19 and should be available to all users within roughly a week. It complements Instagram’s previous update that raised the carousel limit from 10 to 20 slides, allowing creators to pair more images with more detailed explanations and storytelling.
This is just one of several new features Instagram has been rolling out lately. Android users can now take advantage of Ultra HDR and Night Sight in the app’s camera, and Instagram has also added tools that give people more control over what appears in their feed and how posts are displayed on their profile.
