Rockstar Delays GTA VI Once More

Bad news for GTA fans, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) won’t be out as soon as expected. Rockstar just confirmed the game’s been delayed again, this time until November 19, 2026. The company says it needs more time to fine-tune things. Investors didn’t take it well either. Take-Two’s stock fell about six percent after the announcement.

It isn’t the first time Grand Theft Auto VI has been pushed back. Once planned for May 2026, the game now faces an even longer wait. The slow march to release echoes Red Dead Redemption II’s drawn-out journey, first promised in 2017, but not seen until the fall of 2018. History seems to be repeating itself as Rockstar once again prioritizes perfection over punctuality.

PC players have little reason for optimism following the delay. Rockstar has yet to officially confirm a PC edition of Grand Theft Auto VI, maintaining its long-standing approach of prioritizing console releases. Historical precedent doesn’t bode well: GTA V’s PC port arrived nearly two years after launch, and Red Dead Redemption II followed 13 months later. At this rate, GTA VI on PC may not surface until late 2027 or even 2028.

The news arrives during a period of internal unrest at Rockstar. The company recently faced criticism for laying off around 30 to 40 employees, prompting accusations of union suppression. Rockstar maintains that the terminations were related to leaks of confidential information, while the IWGB union contends that those dismissed were all union members or involved in labor organizing. The union has since held protests, and one former employee alleged the dismissals occurred abruptly and without clear justification.

While the studio faces internal and scheduling challenges, projections for Grand Theft Auto VI remain unprecedented. Market analysts estimate first-month revenues could exceed $8 billion, making it the largest launch in entertainment history. The optimism sees GTA V’s sustained momentum, with Take-Two confirming sales of more than 220 million units, the highest of the past decade and second only to Minecraft globally.

There’s been talk that Rockstar might bump up the price for GTA VI, but recent surveys suggest it’ll probably stick with the usual $70 tag.
