GTA 6 Physical Edition May Launch Later Due to Spoiler Risks

Speculation around Grand Theft Auto VI continues, with a new report indicating Rockstar Games may avoid releasing physical discs on day one to limit spoilers and gameplay leaks.

The report comes from Polish outlet PPE, which has a track record of accurate leaks, including early details on the PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. According to PPE, a reliable source claims Take-Two Interactive doesn’t currently plan to release a physical edition of GTA 6 on launch day, reportedly to better control story details and content in the game’s early days.

The reported tactic appears to address a recurring problem tied to physical distribution. The report cites The Last of Us Part II as a notable case of pre-launch narrative leaks and adds that similar issues with Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 were frequently traced back to early movement of physical copies from warehouses.

According to the report, a physical edition is still planned but may not launch alongside the digital version. Boxed copies could be delayed by up to four weeks or pushed into 2027, while the digital release remains scheduled for November 19, 2026.

If confirmed, the move would underscore Rockstar’s efforts to maintain narrative secrecy around one of gaming’s most anticipated releases, even as it risks alienating collectors and players who favor physical media.

So far, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has said anything publicly. An announcement of physical pre-orders would shut down the rumors immediately, but until then, the report stands as another unverified detail in the ongoing GTA 6 launch debate.
