X Will Pay Users for Sharing Useful Grok Bot Templates

The program may pay selected creators when their AI agent templates are used, as X seeks to showcase practical use cases for agentic AI.

X has started an invite-only pilot called Grok Bot Template Rewards, and this is different from the previous program called “Original Content Rewards”. Creators whose Grok Bot templates prove useful to others will receive cash payments. The program is meant to show how people can use xAI’s latest tool in their daily tasks.

Last month, xAI introduced Grok Bots, AI agents that carry out tasks for their users. The company says each bot has its own computer, signs into the tools a person already uses, and works across apps and inboxes. In xAI’s words, the bots “finish jobs end to end” and check back only when something needs approval.

Grok Bot faces a challenge common to agentic tools. Many users are unsure how to use it. Although it can complete certain tasks, people need examples of useful applications to understand its value. The rewards program is intended to address this.

X describes Grok Bot Template Rewards as an invite-only pilot that pays creators for templates people find useful. Participants share their templates on X, and when others use them, they may earn rewards through X Money.

Not everyone will get in. The pilot is limited to a handpicked group of Grok Bot users, and the goal is to put the most interesting, genuinely useful examples out there so more people get curious about the tool.

X says it will decide in each payment cycle whether a creator gets a reward and how large it will be. The company says it weighs a range of factors, including how many people use a template and whether they keep coming back to it over time.

X said its criteria may change over time, but the program will continue to focus on demonstrating valuable uses for Grok Bots. It also said creators’ own use of their templates will not be counted. The company may pay additional amounts to promising creators to support them in the early stage of the pilot.

The main obstacle may be that users must give these agents access to personal data and trust them to take actions on their behalf. Utility could be what persuades people. Social media has shown that users often accept data and privacy concerns when they see enough value and convenience.
