Meta Quest users can now install the official Discord app on their headsets. Before this release, many people accessed Discord through sideloading or other unofficial solutions. The native app provides a smoother and more integrated experience than those earlier methods.
The native Quest app includes Discord’s main features, including servers, direct messages, and voice calls. It also introduces VR-specific features, such as automatic use of the headset’s microphone, the ability to pin Discord while playing games, gameplay streaming to Discord, and support for joining calls as a Meta avatar.
Users who have created a Meta Avatar can use it to appear in Discord video calls instead of turning on a camera. The app also allows gameplay to be streamed directly from the Quest headset to Discord, eliminating the need for the browser-based workarounds many users previously relied on.
