Rockstar Games has ended months of speculation, confirming that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will launch at $79.99 for the standard edition. An Ultimate Edition featuring exclusive in-game content will be priced at $100. The announcement arrives just hours before preorders open at midnight.
The studio also confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch as a single-player title on November 19, with no new version of GTA Online available at release.
Speculation had suggested that Grand Theft Auto VI could become the first mainstream game to carry a $100 base price tag. While Rockstar ultimately settled on $80, the title still ties the highest standard-edition price set by a major publisher, matching the benchmark established by Nintendo with Mario Kart World on the Switch 2.

The $100 Ultimate Edition includes a variety of in-game extras, such as exclusive vehicles, matching revolvers, and access to several special businesses, including auto mod shops, a hair salon, a clothing outlet, and a tattoo parlor. Players who preorder either edition will also receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, which contains a 1955 Vapid Stanier, retro-themed outfits and hairstyles, tropical weapon skins, and a garage on Ocean Beach.
Although the game avoided the $100 base price some had feared, the $80 price point could still set an important precedent. As one of the industry’s biggest releases, GTA VI may encourage other publishers to adopt similar pricing strategies. An analyst last year suggested that an $80 to $100 launch price could help realign video game prices with the growing costs of development.
Microsoft attempted a similar pricing strategy in 2025, raising the standard price of its first-party Xbox titles to $80. However, strong consumer backlash prompted the company to backtrack, with The Outer Worlds 2 ultimately launching $10 cheaper than originally planned.
A boxed edition of GTA VI will be available on November 12, giving buyers early access to preload the game. However, the package contains a download code instead of a physical disc, following a trend that has become increasingly common in the industry. No PC release has been announced.
