Superhuman Acquires AI Authenticity Service GPTZero

Superhuman and GPTZero

Superhuman is buying GPTZero, best known for spotting AI-written text, checking for plagiarism, and tracking how much online content may have been created by AI. It’s an unexpected pairing, bringing together two companies that have largely operated on opposite sides of the AI conversation.

Superhuman plans to bring GPTZero’s technology into Superhuman Go, hoping to expand its efforts around AI transparency and content authenticity. The company says teachers and students will still be the main focus after the acquisition. GPTZero believes the deal will make its verification tools more accessible by putting them directly into the places where people read and write every day. Neither company shared how much the deal was worth.

The company’s strategy of embedding AI more deeply into its products has occasionally drawn scrutiny. A prominent example was the launch of AI-generated feedback modeled after the writing styles of real authors, a feature that faced criticism over concerns about consent and creative ownership.
