Apple will open WWDC 2026 on June 8 with its keynote and Platforms State of the Union presentation, marking Tim Cook’s final conference as CEO. The online event continues through June 12 and includes more than 100 video sessions focused on design, tools, and technology. Attendees will also be able to join group labs and share ideas in Apple’s developer forums.
The keynote and Platforms State of the Union will stream live on YouTube and Apple’s website, with on-demand viewing available once the live broadcasts finish.
Artificial intelligence is expected to take center stage during the keynote, with Apple widely expected to unveil a more advanced version of Siri featuring more natural, chatbot-like conversations and broader functionality.
Apple recently offered an early look at a range of accessibility features powered by Apple Intelligence, including improved voice control, on-device subtitle generation for videos without captions, and support for controlling compatible power wheelchairs through Apple Vision Pro. The company is set to discuss the features in greater detail during a “Today at Apple” session on May 20, with some of them expected to resurface during WWDC.
Back in April, Tim Cook said he’ll step down as Apple CEO in September after leading the company for nearly 14 years. He took over from Steve Jobs in 2011, not long before Jobs passed away, and helped launch big products like the Apple Watch and AirPods. Cook isn’t leaving Apple completely, though; he’ll move into the role of executive chairman.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, will succeed Cook as CEO. He joined Apple in 2001 as part of the product design team and later became vice president of hardware engineering. Ternus had long been considered a possible successor internally, and the transition reflects those expectations.
