Not long ago, a 120Hz monitor was widely seen as exceptionally fast. LG’s latest UltraGear display highlights how quickly monitor technology is advancing, with the company unveiling what it describes as the world’s first Full HD gaming monitor featuring a native 1,000Hz refresh rate. Carrying the name UltraGear 25G590B, the monitor is clearly designed for competitive gamers who value responsiveness and precision, particularly in fast-paced first-person shooters.
Other gaming monitors in the 1,000Hz category have also started appearing. Samsung’s Odyssey G6 supports up to 1,040Hz, while Acer’s Predator XB273U can reach 1,000Hz. Unlike LG’s monitor, however, both use a dual-mode setup that lowers the resolution to 720p when running at their highest refresh rates. LG says the UltraGear 25G590B maintains a native 1,920 x 1,080 resolution at 1,000Hz, helping players keep visual consistency without reducing clarity.
To improve visibility during fast-paced gameplay, LG has equipped the monitor with its Motion Blur Reduction Pro technology, designed to make moving objects appear sharper and easier to follow. The display also uses an IPS panel with a low-reflection coating to help minimize glare.
Like many monitors built for esports, the display comes in at 24.5 inches. The smaller screen size is intended to keep important visual details within a player’s natural line of sight, reducing the need for extra eye movement during fast-paced matches.
The monitor includes the standard ergonomic adjustments for height, swivel, and tilt, while the stand adds calibration indicators for added convenience. LG says the feature is designed for players who regularly move their setup between practice spaces or tournament venues and want to recreate the same positioning with minimal effort.
AI features are also part of the package. LG’s AI Scene Optimization dynamically adjusts image settings according to game genre, with the company claiming improvements in realism and perceived depth. AI Sound, meanwhile, is intended to enhance spatial audio effects and improve voice clarity during in-game communication when paired with supported headsets.
Some important specifications are still unknown, including brightness, response times, and pricing. According to LG, the UltraGear 25G590B will launch in select markets in the second half of 2026, with availability gradually expanding to other regions afterward.
