Reddit Users Can Finally Share Videos in Comment Sections

Reddit is introducing video comments, allowing users to share videos directly within discussion threads. The feature joins the platform’s existing options for text, image, and GIF responses.

The update allows users to post videos directly in comment threads, whether it’s a personal recording or a clip sourced from elsewhere online. Reddit says the feature is intended to make discussions more engaging without requiring users to leave the conversation.

The feature is currently restricted to public, safe-for-work subreddits that choose to enable it. According to Reddit, all videos are screened through its safety tools before they go live, and playback follows each user’s audio settings.

Users can create a video comment by clicking or tapping the video icon in the comment box. They can then record a new video or upload one that is already saved on their device.

The feature may be especially beneficial for AMA sessions. Previously, hosts often answered several questions in a single video, but video comments now allow them to respond directly to individual questions as they appear, making interactions feel more immediate.
