Googlebook Leak Shows Lenovo Preparing Two Laptops and a Convertible Tablet

Googlebook leaked

Lenovo is set to introduce at least two devices as part of Google’s new Googlebook initiative, based on leaked images shared by Android Headlines. The images provide the first detailed look at hardware designed for Google’s Android-based alternative to ChromeOS, a project announced in May with Lenovo confirmed as one of its launch partners.

The leaked images depict three Googlebook-branded devices, each featuring the Googlebook logo on the keyboard. Two are conventional laptops that resemble Lenovo’s Chromebook Plus 14 in different screen sizes, while the third is a detachable 2-in-1 tablet with a kickstand, similar in design to the IdeaPad Pro Gen 2. Although the port layouts differ, all three share a white finish and a distinctive illuminated strip believed to be the Glowbar. Google has identified the Glowbar as a signature Googlebook feature, with similar lighting expected on future Pixel smartphones.

One interesting detail is that the lineup includes a tablet. When Google first introduced Googlebooks, it only showed a laptop, so most people assumed that was the only type of device coming. Android and ChromeOS already run on tablets, but this leak suggests the new platform won’t be limited to laptops. Up to now, Google has mainly shown off features built around mouse and voice controls, like Magic Pointer, which brings up Gemini suggestions when you wiggle the mouse.

Google has not confirmed a release date for Googlebooks, stating only that the devices will launch later this year. Because the initiative is centered on partner-built hardware, the rollout is expected to happen independently of Google’s Pixel announcements. ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo have all been confirmed as launch partners.
